Growing up in Croydon, I always dreamt of working in the City, but to my peers, this was unachievable. What sets me apart from my peers is that I have always been very ambitious and focused on impact from a young age, particularly in the law sector.
At a pivotal point in my life, when I was searching for a community, encountering iRxcruit was a light-bulb moment. I found a team that noticed my differences, embraced them, and made them into a strength, an experience I rarely had with other companies. The standard strategy among other organisations is to make candidates fit a particular job description, yet iRxcruit made me stand out against other competing candidates in my industry. iRxcruit didn't change who I was, but instead allowed me to be my authentic self whilst being trained to perfect my talents and strengths.
Being part of a community where other young candidates were very confident and excelling in their various fields encouraged me to push myself beyond what I thought were my limits.
Despite being a first-class law graduate, I believed at the time that a legal career was out of my reach. So, I settled for finance and worked in a bank before transitioning to law in 2019. iRxcruit showed me how to channel my differences and experience to succeed in the legal world. As a result, I am now a trainee solicitor at a Magic Circle firm.
iRxcruit gave me something bigger than myself to believe in and instilled a desire and responsibility for impact. The skills I have developed have enabled me to grow my platform, Law City, to a network of over 3000 aspiring lawyers, and we now partner with leading firms to increase the recruitment of diverse talent.
Through this platform, I can also provide legal support and expertise to community members who might otherwise lack finances or resources. As well as this, I lead a support network of over 50 women that work in different corporate industries.
The mentorship I received from iRxcruit has supported me in developing new skills, navigating the legal sector and driving forward my career development. I was overwhelmed by the support provided that I decided to become a diversity affiliate of this initiative, as I further the agenda to increase diversity within the Law sector nationally and recommend this opportunity to anyone I encounter.
